A bad start for Xenoblade Chronicles ? WiiDiscReadError

Uh oh... It looks like the release of Xenoblade Chronicles didn't had a good start...

There are reports that people who already have the game are experiencing disc read errors that are not letting them experience the game at all, however Nintendo of Europe has yet to confirm this issue...

But not only that, there are also reports that people who preordered the game, they didn't receive their free poster that the preorder included ! but Nintendo of Europe has apologized for this problem, stating:

"Please note that the three posters are only available via in-store pre-order, which was not correctly communicated before. If you previously placed an online pre-order to get these posters sent with your copy of the pre-order bundle, please get in contact with Game or Gamestation using the links. We strongly apologise for this inconvenience."

... well, that's a bad way to start a game that pretty much everyone was anticipating for...

So, what do you think of this ? do you think Nintendo of America will affect their plans for this and other games because of this ? did you experienced any of these problems right now ?

Do games need to be epic ?... or fun ?...

It definitely didn't help the americans cause and as a wii owner who owns a wii that has NEVER played a dual layer disc "bought Brawl when I bought my wii new and it wouldn't play" It makes me concerned that I won't be able to play it even if it does get localised Sad

From what I've read on other gaming forums, a similar issue has occurred in North America. It seems a lot of customers who pre-ordered Xenoblade Chronicles from GameStop didn't receive the exclusive artbook, when they should have.

I had some problems with dual layer discs twice.

The first time a few months after Super Smash Bros. Brawl came out. I got the disc read error and the game wasn't working anymore.
Sent it in for free repair. Got the Wii back in 2 and a half weeks and everything was fine again.

2 years later, same problem with Metroid - Other M. Desperately needed to play this great game, so I sent my Wii in again for free repair. This time they changed the disc drive to one of the new models.

Had no problem with dual layer since then.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Metroid - Other M
Sakura Wars ~So Long, My Love~
Samurai Warriors 3
Xenoblade Chronicles
The Last Story

All these dual layer games now work like a charm. (Although even the new drive models can obviously die from dust and smoke some day.)

It's great that at least this Dual Layer issue is always a reason for Nintendo to repair your Wii for free, at least here in Germany where Nintendo of Europe is.
