My Wii U Gamepad Is Starting To Crack...

My Wii U Gamepad's case is starting to crack in the area with the Amiibo Scanner. Has anyone else had this problem? The Amiibo Scanner still works surprisingly as does all of the other features and buttons on the controller, but I'm quite concerned that it might stop working eventually...

How the honk are you guys cracking the outer case of the gamepad? The screen I'd understand, but the case is almost as durable as the outer shell of a tank. I dropped mine off the second floor balcony while chatting with a friend below and it wasn't even blemished by the 15 foot fall.
