DLC or new entry?
August 26th 2015, 9:15 am
So with this gen a lot of Nintendo games have been using DLC to increase the content in the games that use DLC (SSB, MK8, Hyrule Warriors, ect.) I was wondering if there's even a need for a SSB5 or Hyrule Warriors 2? I mean they could just add content in the game constantly and it could actually be better in the long run. For Smash for example, Sakurai wouldn't have to re add 50+ characters causing less stress on him and not having us fans wonder if characters like wii fit trainer will be cut. I know some people will say..."but how does Nintendo expect to sell NX's without Smash Bros.?" my answer is simple NX exclusive DLC. I mean the PS4ONE kinda already do this, but as full games like GTAV having more content that could've easily been DLC, but instead was a "system seller" for those platforms. So what do you think should nintendo just keep pulling "life time DLC" for smash and the big name titles or do you wanna keep buying the next versions?

System staples such as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U would be excellent as expandable platforms, with new content released on a regular basis to keep them fresh and innovative. I can't say it would work for every big-name title, but if used in the right software, and in the right way, it's definitely a smart move on Nintendo's part.

@Zack I agree main Pokemon and Zelda for example are better off with new entries, but games like Shuffle and Rumble (especially in their current state) work well as just plain DLC

I disagree, in more than half of the world internet is either very slow or inaccessible. So this would effectively make people in those areas not have access to any of the latest games and content.

Then perhaps Nintendo could offer Ultimate Editions, with all the AOC included on the disc, as an option?

@Rukia what about something like the Pikmin trophy in Melee? Buy a DLC disk and get the DLC as save data on the current version? This way your still not paying for Mario and 50+ character and 30 + stages again and Sakurai doesn't need to rework them again

Personally, I think the way amiibo are handled in Super Mario Maker is brilliant. You can tap amiibo to the GamePad in order to unlock new Costumes, but you can also earn Costumes in other ways. Maybe the same could be true for other forms of AOC?
