Nintendo's Answer To CoD The Splatoon Discussion

Who is going to test out Splatoon this weekend? I'm definitely looking forward to the online demo matches!

The demo test runs are at awkward times in my region.

I'm definitely going to try out the demo in a couple hours, but the real question is are our bodies ready?!

I'm SO READY for the demo!

I might join tonight!

Splatoon is so much fun!
I love the demo, but I won't be able to download the game for a very long time or ever depending on my circumstances.

I really enjoyed the demo, though it looks like spawn point sniping and campers will be an issue in this game.

The title is a bit of a stretch, I wouldn't even compare this to CoD. Nonetheless the game was ok. I enjoyed my two hours with It. Will I buy it though? Probably not.

Just realised the thread title contains the word "cod", which is a type of marine fish. And the game stars squid, which also live in the sea.

As someone who usually dosnt enjoy shooters, I found this to be a game I'll probably try to play quite frequently

I will have my sibling-in-laws around, but you can bet I'll find a way to get online for an hour, one way or another.

The servers have crashed and burned...R.I.P. testfire servers...

Nintendo needs to fix these servers before the game launches next week or all hell will break loose.

@Splatuna there's no way Nintendo can fix a fail this bad in under a week, Nintendo seriously dropped the ball and made a big miscalculation as to how many people were interested in Splatoon and now there's probably going to be many pre-order cancellations as a result

So is Nintendo testing what it would be like if they only had one server for the whole world? This is total BS!

The online servers are still up and they're actually working now!!!

I got to play a few matches, but jeez Nintendo needs to do something about the game's unstable servers.

I didn't realize that Nintendo extended the demo for an additional hour so I missed out on all the fun.

The online servers were flawless after the first hour so I got some good matches in. My team even obliterated @Rukiafan's team several times in a row.

Wow! You were the Splatuna that was creaming my team?! What a small world.

I think it's a good thing. Nintendo, I think, was intentionally testing just how much the current servers could handle to beef them up properly in time for the real deal. These demo sessions are also probably the highest volume of traffic this game will ever experience. Because it's free and has no negative (or positive )reviews, people have no reason not to give it a shot. A number of people of course couldn't do it because of other obligations at the time, but I'd wager the vast majority of people interested in the game were online to try it out during these demo periods... especially this last one.

There won't normally be quite this many players at a given time, so I think by the time we're actually paying for the product, things should be running pretty smooth. And it could have been even worse than it was. Once in a match, I never felt any real lag and was never in danger of being disconnected. Getting in wasn't easy, but once it, things ran pretty strong, and that's important.

Odd no one is talking about this game and it's been out now for over 2 weeks. I'll say this, I can't stop playing this game. Best Nintendo game for me in a long time. I haven't been this addicted to an online shooter since Goldeneye!! I can't wait to see what else Nintendo has in store for the remaining updates!
