Despite showing off many of their most popular titles at previous Gamescom`s (Skyward Sword, Mario Kart 7, Donkey Kong Country Returns etc) Nintendo of Europe chose to skip Gamescom 2012, opting instead to have smaller events around Germany.
This year will be different though, as Nintendo is planning on making an appearance at this year's show. In a statment from Gamescom Project manager Tim Endres has said
" Nintendo's return is an absolute highlight for our community, exhibitors and trade visitors from around the world"
Gamscom is the second major Video games trade show of the year following E3 from August 21st to the 25th.

Same, but expect E3 this year to be massive with the new Smash Bros title being shown.
