It’s been officially confirmed now that Nintendo Will not be attending the Gamescom Trades Fair in Germany. This is odd news as Nintendo has made an appearance at everyone to date; it’s the second biggest gaming event of the year next to E3.
A German Nintendo Representative had this to say,
"Whilst Gamescom is a fantastic show, we have taken the decision not to attend this year’s event, We are planning a number of sampling events throughout Germany in which our fans will have the opportunity to play upcoming Nintendo 3DS, Wii and WiiU titles. Further details will be announced soon."
I personally think this is not the best move after many people had not so nice things to say about Nintendo’s E3 Press Conference this year. They could have used this event to showcase more of the things people said they wanted to see at E3. Because of this there will be not new news to look forward to regarding the WiiU and upcoming 3DS games.
Capcom has also said that they will not be attending the event, but had this to say in regards to a rumour about a WiiU game they are developing.
"There is a rumour that we are working on a Wii U game. It won't be at this show. But we do have something waiting in the wings, and we will be talking about that very soon."
While Nintendo will not be at Gamescom they are planning on having smaller showcases and “sampling events” around Europe for WiiU, Wii and 3DS games. If any members are in Europe don’t forget to check these out.
Gamescom 2012 runs from August 15th to the 19th.

I'm surprised, you'd think Nintendo would want to unveil some information before they release the Wii U at this rate the Wii U could flop due to most potential consumers being unable to save up enough funds for the Wii U by the time the console launches.

Nintendo needs to be less secretive about the WiiU we still hardly know anything about the console yet.
