Bust a Move Plus is also known as Puzzle Bobble Plus or Bubble Bobble Plus in Europe (depending on where you live on the continent). Not to be confused with the American Bubble Bobble Plus which is an action platforming arcade game also released by Taito that also stars those cute dinosaurs Bubby and Bobby thus causing much confusion between American and European gamers.
This is a great puzzle genre game that's so good it should please even those who aren't big puzzle game fans. The object in this game is to shoot colored bubbles at the slowly encroaching bubbles at the top of the screen to clear the Stage of all bubbles. To do so you must match three or more bubbles of the same color together or utilize some of the special bubbles found on the screen such as the fire bubble, ice bubble or rainbow bubble, to help you clear the stage and rack up the points.
The game has 2 main modes 1st is the 1 player Quest which has 135 stages split into 27 different segments called zones. Each zone has 5 stages and are distinguished by letters or question mark and generally the higher the letter the harder the zone e.g. B is harder than A.
It must be noted that only about 8 zones can be played in a single playthrough so there is plenty replay value to be had in this game. VS mode can be played either against a cpu or a human player and is your typical head to head vs mode found in puzzle games. This game also has 2 extra 1P modes that each have 135 stages across 27 zones that cost 200 Wii Points each that greatly add to the 1 player experience.
Bottom line: This is a great puzzle game that's great to play alone or head to head. It's an absolute bargain at 600 Wii Points and it's worth the 400 Wii Points for both DLC packs if you enjoy the game already.
Some companies have trouble developing a great WiiWare game but Taito has managed to give us games such as Bubble Bobble Plus, Space Invaders Returns and this great title. Hopefully they still have something up their sleeves for future WiiWare release .
Score ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 9.5/10
9- Awesome This game has little in the way of flaws, and is a highly enjoyable experience.
