Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is the second game in the RE: Chronicles series. It was published and developed by Capcom. It was released on November 17th 2009.
Like the first game, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles retells the events from past Resident Evil games. Darkside chronicles retells the events from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica. It also features a new scenario that takes place in South Africa. Various characters return like Leon S Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Ada Wong, Jack Krauser, Sherry Birkin, and many others. This game focuses mainly on the G-virus and its terrible effects.
Like The Umbrella Chronicles Resident Evil: DC is a first person on-rails shooter. Some improvements over the first game are the graphics (major overhaul especially in the cut scenes) controls (also completely reworked you can now carry more than three different weapons and you can store herbs if you don’t want to use them yet.) and some gameplay elements. (This time you can actually see your AI partner and now they help you fight). Things that have returned from The Umbrella Chronicles are quick time events; drop in co-op (now you don’t share the health bar with your partner) RE: Archives (the ability to view files and folders found in the environment and now videos) the return of being able to up grade weapons (this time around the currency is changed from stars to gold coins found in the environment) and improvements to some of the creatures found in the first game.
Like Dead Space Extraction a new feature in RE: DC is the camera, In Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles the camera moved normally in RE: DC is moves more erratically even more so than Dead Space. It’s good because it conveys what the characters on screen are going through…..but this comes at a cost as the aiming is 10 times harder than Dead Space Extraction and because this game deals with the G-virus not only are the bosses A LOT more tougher but that mixed with the crazy camera allows for some near impossible to beat boss fights. Lastly Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles features online leaderboards, but unlike most leaderboards if you do badly in a level you can choose not to upload that score.
Graphics wise Resident Evil: DC’s graphics are a super major improvement over the first game. The cutscenes were so picture perfect it was hard to believe you were playing a Wii game. Gameplay wise apart from the boss fights the game was pretty easy, the zombies and creatures seemed a lot weaker than the ones in the first game also the levels were alot shorter. The controls are a lot different than The Umbrella Chronicles so at the beginning you actually have to watch the tutorial. Not only are the controls a lot different but they take a while to get used to.
Overall Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is a major improvement over the first game; the graphics were spot on and the inclusion of online leaderboards a great addition. Unfortunately the game suffers from the same camera issues from Dead Space Extraction, the level gameplay was far to easy (even on hard) and like I said before because this game deals with the G-virus the boss fights are super hard, not only that but because of the properties of the G-virus sometimes you’ll fight the same boss three times in the same level.
Aside from all this if you’re a hardcore Resident Evil fan you would be crazy to not own this game. If you loved Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles them you’ll love this game also. Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles gets an 8.5 out of 10.
8- Great This is a great game that might have a few flaws or could have been better, but is still a game we highly recommend!

ARGH !!!
I absolutely HATE RE: Umbrella Chronicles ! It was not a good game AT ALL !!!
But this game sounds like a major improvement, but not by much, so Im still skeptical with this one...
But anyway, nice review once again KingreX32 !

Yeah, I love Resident Evil games. There's just something so rewarding about splitting a zombies head in two with a shotgun blast. I'll probably try to purchase every Resident Evil title for the Wii including: Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil, Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles. If I ever have enough money, I could also purchase a copy of the Resident Evil 2 Gamecube port.
