It looks like it'll blow the original Super Mario Maker out of the water, however the fact that online multiplayer has been confirmed as being random matchmaking only it's definitely lost some hype from a lot of Nintendo fans today.

Desert, Snow and Forest courses?! This is what was missing from the original that made it impossible to make the courses and adventures I most wanted to bring to life! I've already started work on Super Mario Mini DX, and I'm looking forward to booting up my preloaded copy come the 28th June.

@Towafan7 This probably belongs in the YLVGP thread, but a friend of mine gifted me a set of those Game Voucher thing-a-ma-bowsers, which I used to preload SMM2 (the other game I chose was, ironically enough, another Mario title).

@Aqua Cherry Blossom @GeekyGamerZack My husband and I just started playing this today and I can confirm that Yoshi does indeed have color variants with unique abilities. The Sun enemy turns into a moon at night which acts like a pow when hit rather than directly hurting you. Some players are already creating glitch courses and have also found one that allows pipes to stack.

@Clαππαd @Aqua Cherry Blossom @GeekyGamerZack Woah there guys, perhaps we should use spoiler tags when talking about SMM2 features? I'll leave the decision to @Clαππαd and @GeekyGamerZack though.

@Staroceancrazy Tried it and loved it. The traditional levels are my favorite level type in the SMM games!

Work on Super Mario Mini DX (a spiritual successor to my "game" in the original) is underway, so look forward to a brand-new, five-volume, 20-world, 80-course, fully-playable adventure very soon!
In the meantime, would anyone like to try some sample courses? I've been using the title screen demos to test my skills and get to grips with the interface, editing each of them into something new and (ever-so-slightly) challenging.

Re: Super Mario Maker 2 (OT)

@FM_Alchemist Apologies. I've been going through some personal issues lately, one of which is artist's block (in relation to SMM2). The articles detail each installment of the multi-part adventure, but I can't submit the first article until the first volume of said adventure is complete.
The trouble with artist's block in a game like this is that it's not always possible to instantly have a brilliant idea for a course; I tend to let inspiration be my muse, thinking of a particular idea that is perfect for a course, before proceeding to build it.
If I quickly cobble together levels that are basic, bland and boring that more or less play in exactly the same overly-mundane way, then players aren't going to find them enjoyable; on the other hand, if I take my time and find my muse, I get creative course ideas that I'm then able to carefully implement, such as "Caution! Slippery Floor!", which uses two separate takes on an ice slide theme (a Pink Coin puzzle, followed by an Icicle and Big Spiny-laden mad dash to the Goal Panel) and is also a nostalgic throwback to the Penguin's Slide from Super Mario 64's Cool Cool Mountain.
The trick I've found to be most effective for generating ideas is to not repeat the same course theme and/or game style for more than two courses in a row, so if, for example, I create two SMB1 courses in a row, the next one might be an SMW course; similarly, if I create two Desert courses in a row, I might follow up with a Forest or Underwater course for a refreshing change of scenery (funnily enough, one of my upcoming uploads is named "Change of Scenery" ).
This prevents the process from becoming stale and samey (WOW, I'm posting a lot of alliterations today ), and motivates me to try and create at least one new course per day, though admittedly construction may continue to the next day if a particular idea requires extra work; a recent example was my decision to merge my "vanilla bean" Lakitu course concept with the second pre-assigned Desert course for that volume, adding in a "high risk, high reward high-speed chase" theme that became the punderfully-named "Lucky Lucky Dunes", which received its first Like less than an hour after it was uploaded. Apparently, people like the extra effort. Or maybe it's the pun...it's ALWAYS the pun...
In any case, there are now 32 levels uploaded, twelve of which are from Vol. I. This means that I only need to create another four courses before the first chapter is complete, with the first article following soon after. In the meantime, I'll post the Course ID for the "pilot episode" of the saga in this thread very soon, which you can then use to find all my other uploads; alternatively, you may prefer to search for my Maker Profile by my username, which is RNGrWater.
In any case, I'm still working on new, fun courses in spite of my now-active lifestyle, with the next "masterpiece" due by sometime tomorrow-ish. What is this idea? I'll know once I'm inspired.

I'm kind of curious to see these playthroughs myself, now. I mean people in the SMM2 community keep Liking and leaving comments in-game, so it's humbling to know that people genuinely like the courses I make.
