Mask of Akanius Series Hub and Dracromia-Metaligon Guidebook - By GamerZack7
August 29th 2014, 2:17 am
Accompanying the next episode of Crystals of Silveria is the start of a three-part special called "Zed of Two Worlds". The first part, Akanian Knights, is set in the world of Dracromia, which is the setting for a series I'm currently planning called Mask of Akanius. The full series won't debut for a while, so this will be like having a sample of it, albeit one which ties into CoS. Anyway, here's a list of the main characters:
Alph of Akanius: A young man with no recollection of his past, Alph wears a breather almost all of the time due to respiratory problems. His closest friend is a red drachomus known as Ocre, who trained Alph in the art of swordfighting; ironically, Alph is a pacifist who would rather not use weapons, and opts instead to use sleep cartridges in his spitter in order to subdue foes, keeping his sword on-hand only as a last resort. Alph has uncovered a mysterious fragment of an ancient artefact, one which apparently has a connection to Akan, the Red Dragon. Now, he and his allies seek out the other fragments, hoping to assemble the artefact and learn its true purpose.
Ocre of Akanius: A battle-hardened red drachomus fighter, Ocre's no-nonsense, tough-as-nails exterior hides a no-nonsense, tough-as-nails core. She displays the typical red drachomus temper, and has a sarcastic, almost-scary sense of humour to boot. Despite this, she shows her sensitive side around Alph, almost treating him like the son she never hatched. Ocre's relationship with Crynock is less friendship than it is friendly rivalry, which is odd considering the fact that their respective factions are enemies.
Crynock of Soranius: A cleric of the Cyan Dragon Soran, Crynock's tender, caring personality is more-or-less the complete opposite of Ocre's. He is compassionate, kind and thoughtful to all, even Ocre, who saved his life shortly after they first met. Apart from Alph, Crynock is the one who most tolerates Furbendink, never becoming frustrated by the gnome's antics.
Amy Mitchell of Munthrek: An esper hailing from human lands, Amy is intelligent, calm and methodical...most of the time. Although she tries to hide her romantic feelings for Alph, the lid often pops off of the jar, spilling her thoughts all over the other party members. Alph seems oblivious to these feelings of love, though he seems smitten with the psychic girl himself. Amy wants to see Alph's real face, but she always misses her chance during the rare instances when he is able to remove his breather, usually being distracted by something or in another place entirely.
Furbendink of Wievalia: A purple-haired gnome mage from elven lands, Furbendink is a flamboyantly-outgoing free-spirit who likes animals of all kinds, even the ones nobody likes. He sees Alph as his best pal, forming a brotherly attachment with the enigmatic man; this is most likely due to the unique situation of Furbendink being an orphan amongst a race which has enormous families. Furbendink is clever enough to create his own spells, with the names of all of them beginning with the suffix, "Furbendink's"; his ever-classic "Furbendink's Rainbow Fart" is a popular party gag amongst the young-at-heart, who are mostly immature apprentice wizards.
I hope you are looking forward to Akanian Knights, the first glimpse into Alph's story! This has been in-the-works for some time now as both a tie-in and a sister-series to Crystals of Silveria. Stay tuned!

Okay, the series is now in full swing, with every episode planned out from start to finish. There are seven major story arcs which I'll refer to as the Tournament arc, the Nulwurm arc, the Mindscape arc, the Starmute arc, the Geminus arc, the Trihorn arc and the Awakening arc. Of those, the Tournament and Awakening arcs are the longest, with four episodes each, and the shortest are the Nulwurm, Starmute and Trihorn arcs, which each feature just one (extended-length) episode.
Those three episodes, by the way, are crossover specials in which the protagonist, Alph, travels to other worlds for differing reasons, and encounters the protagonists of each of those worlds' stories: Drey, Zed and Arch. Yes, this means Zed will make at least one appearance in Mask of Akanius, but not in the way you may expect. Stay tuned!
