Steel Diver w/multiplayer to be Nintendo's free to play title

The sort-of remake to the sleeper 3DS launch title has been announced !

During an interview with IGN, Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that the free-to-play title announced a few days ago is going to be Steel Diver, originally a 3DS game, only now with an inclusion with multiplayer, mentioning that it's an interesting idea as it's aiming to open things up with the game, and maybe even the IP as a whole.

Some details have been stated that explains more about this game but mostly how it's going to be approached:

- 4-player battle mode
- precise business model is still being decided
- no platform mentioned
- final product could end up using some sort of membership or micro-transaction
- team is focused on balancing how a pricing model would affect the entertainment value
- will ultimately be available in a packaged form as well
- aiming to be shown "relatively soon"

It's very interesting to see a very not well known IP from nintendo to be repackaged to a new game approach that nintendo have not experimented before, and I think it's a very appropriate title for this to test the waters of the free-to-play market.
