I actually gave up on the Pokémon series after the Pokémon got silly. A garbage bag, really? But the newest Nintendo Direct peaked my interest and I actually ordered a copy of Pokémon X. Bulbasaur for the win. Not sure about the new Pokémon though.

I've worked out how I would like to choose my Starter Pokémon: Bulbasaur and Fennekin; Charmander and Froakie; or Squirtle and Chespin. BurstDashV8 is choosing Bulbasaur and Fennekin, and another friend may choose Charmander and Froakie, so I may end up opting for Squirtle and Chespin when I start playing Pokémon X.

@Sneaker I actually like how Trubbish and Garboador look, they ARE called pocket MONSTERS after all plus then non symmetric look of Garboador makes him unique.
Anyway I'm going to choose... IDK I'm always a fire starter, but Torchic is my favorite starter and it'll be available fairly early and I kinda wanna have one of each, so maybe... chespin and Squirtle?

There is a total of nine possible starter Pokémon combinations in X and Y, each of which has different type groupings; even if you double-up on two starters of the same type you should have different combinations. For example, choosing both Charmander and Fennekin gives you access to Flying, Psychic (or so the rumour goes) and Fire-types. Of course, it seems the most popular pairings are:
Bulbasaur (Grass/Poison) and Fennekin (rumoured Fire/Psychic)
Charmander (Fire/Flying) and Froakie (rumoured Water/Fighting amphibian...gee, that's new! )
Squirtle (Water/Water) and Chespin (rumoured Grass/Dark)
Is there a reason people are naturally drawn to those combinations? Why Squirtle and Chespin? Why not, say, Bulbasaur and Froakie? Maybe the game trailers have hypnotic properties...
Also, which character is each of you choosing? I'm playing as Calem, except I might name my character Xander (pronounced ZAN-durr) or Alex. Guess which version I picked!

Just wait until the fans come out of the woodwork saying, "Mega Raichu? But Pikachu's more popular and famous! It should be Mega Pikachu, not Mega Raichu!"

@DarkMagiciangirl So far it's been confirmed by The Pokémon Company that none of the Pokémon introduced in Generation VI will have a Mega Evolution in X and Y. However, a number of Pokémon from previous generations do have Mega Evolutions, including the second-stage Kanto starters and Blaziken. My theory is that we'll be able to play remakes of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire on 3DS, and the Torchic with Blazikenite promotion is a sneak preview of what's to come.

I take it you'll choose either Fennekin or Froakie then?
As for me, I guess I'll go with either Charmander and Froakie or Squirtle and Chespin, the reason being that I always choose Bulbasaur in the Gen I games and their remakes, and I never give enough attention to either Charmander or Squirtle. Also, Froakie and Chespin have really grown on me.
By the way, Chespin's Stage 2 evo is starting to look a lot like it could be Grass/Rock-type. Oh well, so much for the final evolutions being Grass/Dark, Fire/Psychic and Water/Fighting.

So I'm on my second playthrough of Pokémon X, and my party has just attained its tenth member! Here's how it looks at the moment:
Foamy (Greninja) Lv. 45; Scaly (Venusaur) Lv. 45; Baron (Tyrantrum) Lv. 45; Phoenix (Talonflame) Lv. 45; Sheen (Doublade) Lv. 45; Fuzzy (Swirlix) Lv. 45; Powdonna (Hippowdon) Lv. 45; Glowy (Ampharos) Lv. 45; Popsicle (Bergmite) Lv. 45; Turbo (Poliwrath) Lv 45
After I beat the game, I'd like to add Delphox and Scizor to my party as well, so that I can round it out with some of the missing types and also add a second Mega Evolution-capable Pokémon to my party. Whether I train "Kinniekins" or simply breed my own is still something for me to ponder over, though.
Does anybody want to trade or battle Pokémon online?

I traded a Lv. 1 Fennekin on GTS in exchange for a Charmander, and I've decided to breed my own female Charmander for my party. The problem is the 7:1 male-female ratio. So far I've hatched 29 Charmander eggs, and simple mathematics would suggest that at least 3 of those should be female; sadly, this is not the case.
It's ironic, because the Fennekin I hatched for the trade was female, and I wasn't even trying. Now I'm trying to hatch a female Charmander and it's not working at all!
