We have been getting alot of reports of WiiU versions of games being better than their 360/PS3 counter parts. First Ninja Gaiden, then Aliens Colonial Marines, then Sniper Elite V2, now Need for Speed Most Wanted. In an interview with Lorenzo Veloria of Gamesradar.com, Criterion Games Vice President Alex Ward detailed and talked about many of the features found in the WiiU version of Need for Speed most wanted.
Here is a list of some of the features of the game
- The WiiU version is based on PC version of game
- takes advantage of the additional RAM in the WiiU
-PC textures and assets
- Miiverse support with Autolog
- Wii U demo up Eshop
- Off TV Play
- Mii support in game (mii appearing on billboards
(Wii mote/nunchuck/wheel support/pro controller support
Mr. Ward also detailed another WiiU exclusive mode called Co-Driver mode. This mode allows a second player to participate in the game to either help or hinder the main player using the gamepad. Second players can initiate races, change car colour and take control of the car whenever they want. They have full access to all of the games features.
"When we sat down to think about bringing Most Wanted to Wii U, we thought of this: in a car game, what can the second player in the room do?". (Alex Ward)
Based on what we have learnt in the Interview Need for Speed most Wanted for WiiU isn't just a port, it was developed specifically for the WiiU and its unique features.
Need for Speed Most Wanted came out on October 30th 2012 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The WiiU version will be released on March 14th 2013. A demo will be released on the Eshop before release.
