IMPORTANT UPDATE
Sorry I guess I wasn't paying attention with all the anticipation from the video. The official Wii U Virtual Console site confirms that you must have VC titles (hopefully just the Wii Shop Channel data) already transfer to the Wii U in order to receive discounts for upgrade VC titles in native resolution and Wii U features. Clearly, Nintendo forgot that our Club Nintendo account exist.

Are you sitting down, I know I am. This Nintendo Direct has seriously shocking announcements for Wii U. If you don't have time to watch the 37 minute video above, then view the list below starting with the most surprising (for me).

[1] Nintendo and Atlus is teaming up on bringing a new crossover: Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem

[2] There is not one but two Zelda titles in development for Wii U. The first title that will be release this fall is Wind Waker HD remake, which will have "tune up" experiences. The second title is a brand new adventure that Eiji Aonuma hinted that Link will not tackle it alone.

[3] A new title from the developer of Xenoblade, which may or may not be a sequel. The gameplay looks the same with the addition of controllable mechs.

[4] While waiting for the Wii U Virtual Console in spring, a Trail Campaign for the service as just started. This Trail will release one NES/SNES title per month until July that everyone can easily experience Virtual Console. For example, F-Zero (February release) will be price at $0.30 for a limited time. That goes for all titles from the Trail Campaign.

[5] Yoshi's Epic Yarn! (not the official title)

[6] Gameboy Advance titles on Wii U Virtual Console is confirm

[7] For those who already have a Virtual Console titles on Wii whether they're already been transfer to Wii U or not, NES will be for $1.00 and SNES for $1.50

[8] A new Mario "action" game and a new Mario Kart in progress

[9] The Wonderful 101 keeps getting more beautiful

What was the most surprising from this Wii U Direct? Leave your welcoming thoughts at the comment section below.

For me the biggest news was the VC for the Wii U. I am excited to hear about the GBA games coming to the Wii U VC but most important of all I am really excited about having to pay a fraction of the cost for transferring my VC games from the Wii TO the Wii U.

For some one like me who hasnt transferred stuff due to not having an SD card this makes it alot easier. I couldn't justify paying for an SD card just to move over a couple of titles from my Wii to my Wii U but this way sounds like it will be alot cheaper in the end for me. Plus I will have the added bonus of playing my VC games on the game pad.

@Tasuki that only works out nice if you have very few vc games, but to those of us who have purchased many games, "in my case over 100 vc games" It'll cost us up to 100s of dollars to transfer them which obviously isn't an option. Neutral

Ummm... This is complete and total bull$μ!t Nintendo! So basically what you're saying is we'll have to repay for all of the VC games that we already downloaded on the Wii? If we've done the system transfer, and the games are only accessible to a limit of one console, why the **** do we need to pay another fee?!

Edit: Also, GameBoy Advance games on the WiiU eShop?! Come on, are you serious?! GameBoy Advance games aren't even available to non-ambassador 3DS owners yet, and that's a damn handheld! WTF?!

Rukiafan, as much as I love the Wii VC, I'm not so sure that I'm going to continue expanding my collection anymore.

On another note, Nintendo should've made it an obligation to inform us about this, before everyone did their system transfer. That could've potentially saved a lot of people money, if they had then decided to also keep their Wii console's. What a shame Nintendo, you really aren't the same company I fell in love with as a child in the late 80's.

I'm sorry for the double post, but I was just further informed about this VC dilemma. You don't actually have to pay anything, if you don't wish to. The fee of a $1-$1.50 is only required as payment for Nintendo's additional feature's, such as: save states, WiiU GamePad functionality and MiiVerse integration. The fee is completely optional and never required to access your VC games in their original state.

My fault. I Forgot to go into more detail.

Repurchasing previously purchased Wii Virtual Console titles from the Wii U eShop is for those that want all the latest features such as Off-TV Play, Restore Point. and Miiverse (and possibly better emulated).

If you don't want to spend them again then continue using Wii mode.

Ok I am going to add this to all the people that think that Nintendo charging you a fee to transfer games over to the Wii U VC.

1. First off its a discount fee they could have been real jackasses and charged you again the full price.

2. Peoples time is worth money. Seriously do you know how much time is needed to put in to code it so we can play the games on the gamepad have restore points etc, etc. Do you like to do your job for free? How would you like it if your boss said hey great job but today your not going to get paid but you still need to do the work?

3. This is nothing new come on. You bought Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3 on the NES played them to death. But oh wait Mario All Stars is out on SNES with improved graphics sounds and save features ok time to shell out $40 dollars for all three games so that I can play them on SNES. Heck the HD remake of Wind Waker coming out for the Wii U?

Its a new system guys not a redesigned Wii. Your lucky that they are going to the effort make it so you can play your Wii VC games on the Wii U VC. And of course no one is forcing you to rebuy them.
