Pokémon X and Pokémon Y for the Nintendo 3DS has announced on the first Nintendo Direct of 2013. they're the the first Pokémon titles to be in completely in 3D, no more sprite designs. This will also be the first to be simultaneous release for all major regional release in October.
Could this worldwide release be a continue trend for Nintendo? Choose your starter Pokémon below.

They refer to two of the axes of the third dimension, X-axis and Y-axis. That means Pokemon Z is near-inevitable, which would be either a third-version or a sequel to both X and Y.Rukiafan wrote:What does X and Y stand for?

Rukiafan, an X-Y axis, also known as a cartesian coordinate system or a coordinate plane, a two-dimensional plane of points defined uniquely by a pair of coordinates. These coordinates measure the distance of the point from the X-axis (horizontal) and the Y-axis (vertical).

I just checked out some screenshots at NLife, and the visual quality of this game is most definitely not up to 3DS standards. The screenshots were very pixelated, and I didn't notice any smooth textures in any of them. For your guy's sake, let's just hope those are screenshots of the beta version, and Nintendo will be incorporating a lot more polish into the finished product.

Honestly I have only played Pokemon Red which I finished and Pokemon White which I got bored of after the second gym. So I will probably pass on this one.

No chromosome! CARTESIAN COORDINATES! 3DS mean much? I think everybody who's guessed chromosomes should realise that chromosomes come in pairs, XX for girls and XY for guys. Also, Nintendo's never been one for sexual innuendo in their games. *COUGH*DVENTUREOFLI*COUGH*

The graphics are in 3D, but that doesn't mean they are better, in fact from what I just saw the graphics are poor quality at best.

The starters could be Dark, Psychic and Fighting types! Look carefully at the moves that they use during the trailer. Chespin could be a Grass and Dark Pokemon, Fennekin could be a Fire and Psychic Pokemon, and Froakie could be a Water and Fighting Pokemon! That means that each starter would be both weak against and strong against both of the other starters!

I know that deciding to keep Pokemon Black 2 was a good idea.
I'm really excited about this. Finally new legendary Pokemon are no longer ugly.

Wait, I haven't even heard about DQVII for 3ds yet. Man, this year just got so much better. Looks like I'm going to be getting A LOT of 3ds games. Animal crossing, Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, this, and dragon quest when it comes out.

Did you notice those strange circular buildings in the trailer? What if they're some genetic breeding plant? That would be kind of strange for a Pokemon game, but you never know.

Yeah, it seems a little dark for a first party Nintendo title, although Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask were quite dark, but in a more eerie way.
It looks like the story might involve genetically engineered Pokemon as its legendary monsters.

That's not genetic engineering, it's manipulating a Pokémon's personality that isn't the same thing.

Really, Terra? I thought they looked more like Pokemon Colosseum/XD combined with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
