Been playing some old Gamecube titles lately.
Mostly Star Wars: Jedi Knights: Outcast
and a bit of RE2 classic retro goodness.

This morning I got 'Deus Ex', 'Conflict Vietnam' and 'The Thing' - all for the PS2, from a local gaming store. So I've spent most of the day playing them. :-)

I really liked The thing for PS2. I'm a big John Carpenter's "The thing" fan, so I guess that's the reason I liked it. The game really got some low reviews, but I give it some credit because it links in with the main story.

I'm a big fan of the film too - I'd seen some footage of the game on television back in 2002 but that was taken from the PC. In fact, I thought the game was only available for PC and Xbox, I didn't even know that it had been released for the PS2 so when I saw it in the store I had to buy it. :-)

Pandora's Tower (Wii)
Just a little bit of item farming and creation this time.
LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins. (3DS eShop)
Don't acknowledge what the critics have been saying about this game. If you're still on the fence, just jump over to the other side where the grass is green.

We should exchange FCs, Chickgoboom! MK7 is my favourite game on my blueack 3DS. I've been trying to unlock as many parts as possible. I just reached the 2000 Coin mark yesterday!
Right now I'm training my Pokémon for the first Gym battle in HeartGold. So far Quil (my Cyndaquil), Lumin (my Mareep) and Tawny (my Hoothoot) are Lv. 10, so they're all ready. I'm also training Gel (my Wooper) and Monarch (my Metapod), and I might train another Pokémon as well so that I have a full team.

Nano Assault EX (3DS eShop)
Some of the visuals in this game are the most impressive I've ever witnessed in a videogame. It's truly impressive what SHIN'EN has done here. And I thought FAST: Racing League had some impressive visuals for a WiiWare game. If SHIN'EN had included online multiplayer in FAST, it could've seriously been sold as a retail Wii title. Or at least sold at a higher price in the WiiShop.

Wonderboy III: The Dragon's Trap (Wii VC)
The original arcade version of Wonderboy In Monsterland has some really horrible hit detection issues. I chose the arcade version, because I read in various spots on NLife that the SMS version has some serious issues with hit detection. After playing some of The Dragon's Trap, I can say that it has way superior hit detection. Although, the graphics aren't as good. The game feels a whole lot different to play than Wonderboy II. Which is a good thing.

I've been getting right into Pokémon White Version. I'm training my team of Pocket Monsters to prepare them for Driftveil Gym. My star players to battle Clay are:
-Drake (Ducklett) Lv. 27 (Male)
-Jack (Vanillite) Lv. 28 (Male)
-Greentea (Pansage) Lv. 28 (Male)
The rest of my party might not do so well in a Ground-type Gym, and they are:
-Gemma (Boldore) Lv. 29 (Female)
-Sandy (Sandile) Lv. 28 (Female)
-Porkbun (Pignite) Lv. 28 (Male)
The next Pokémon I'm looking to add to my team is a Tynamo, but I can't enter Chargestone Cave and catch one due to a Galvantula web blocking the way.

I finished the story, but I've only reached 24.77% completion. There's still a lot of exploring left to do in this game, but it's disappointing that the story is so short, though.
Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS eShop)
I'm on chapter 19 now, so some of the free SpotPass prologues are finally accessible.

Fishing Resort (Wii)
I had an urge to do some fishing, and was lucky enough to finally "S" rank the Japanese Lobster and Black Rockfish. Which actually got me ranked in the current tournament. But I was only ranked in 229th place, so you won't find WiiAboutU on the leaderboard yet. Now I only need to "S" rank nine more species at Teman Paradise!

Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)
When it comes down to the overall gameplay style, I've got to say, this game makes me feel kind of like a noob. Which I don't really understand, because I figured the gameplay mechanics would be pretty much the same as Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. This game takes it really rough on you at the beginning. Something that SMT:DS didn't do.

^ What a coincidence, I just downloaded KDL2 last night. I only tried it out for a few minutes and wasn't intentionally trying to really get it into it or anything. I made it to the first boss fight and got my a** kicked. I was like WTF!? This is a Kirby game, isn't it? I remember completing the original Dream Land as a child in like 30 minutes, while driving around with my mother running erands.

Let me know what you think of SMTIV, once you have a chance to get a feeling for the gameplay. It can be pretty brutal at the beginning of the game, but don't let that deter you from a really great JRPG. You're still going to save some of the $30 eShop credit for M&L:DT, aren't you?

Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)
The story is beginning to pickup in pace, and I believe I'm about to be doing battle with the second main boss in the game soon. I needed to take a break from this very dark game, with all of the demon fusing and grinding. So I decided to begin playing...
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (3DS eShop)
I love how the overworld is basically desinged as a puzzle in itself, aside from the dungeon exploration. It reminds me a lot of how Skyward Sword was designed. Which is something I really love about that game. The art style is a pleasure to stare at it and boasts some of the sharpest 3D effects I've seen on the 3DS.
SteamWorld Dig (3DSWare)
This is a good game. It's just not built for longer play sessions, because the gameplay becomes very repetitious. I really like the art style, though. The controls are very smooth and responsive too.

I just finished defeating the Hooraws, and have awoken Big Massif from the dream world. Next stop, Mount. Pajamaja! Well, after I finish that tedious sidequest for the two lovers in Wakeport. Everybody who owns a 3DS really needs to play this game. It really attests to the level of quality videogaming experience the 3DS has the potential to offer.

Pikmin 3 which I completed today. 100% fruit and log entries in 20h:10m. Took me 51 in-game days.
It's a beautiful game, with a funny plot, cool new enemies and awesome bosses, once again totally addicting, but also often extremely stressing because of the time pressure.
It felt too short compared to my 50h Pikmin 2 experience in 2004.
It also had weird control changes: always wondered why there is no swarming move like in Pikmin 1&2, and just after completing the game I found out about the new lock-on and rush-in move.
Also, I expected the final boss to be huge and found myself staring at the credits in disbelief after beating something that was reminiscent of a miniboss in Pikmin 2.
Personal gripes: Collectibles were presented in a simple and basic way in Pikmin 3 which I found disappointing compared to Pikmin 2's adorable gallery.
While story, new characters, KopPad and fruit make sense in context, just 30 different kinds of fruit is a bit.. shall i say 'uninteresting' compared to more than 200 different objects (with funny descriptions of the crew) you could collect in Pikmin 2.
It's no secret Pikmin 2 is one pf my favpurite games, and I'm a bit sad that Pikmin 3 didn't meet my expectations.
