Very few spinoff series ever live up to thier originals, but not only does Megaman X live up to the original Megaman games,it's actually superior to them in nearly every aspect!
Story
The year is 20XX and the last creation of dr. light,Megaman X has been awakened!
However the scientist who found X tries to recreate dr. light's work with terrible results,as the robots he created have gone out of control and threaten the survival of humanity itself, only one robot can stop these mavericks and save the human race,Megaman X!
Gameplay
This game plays almost exactly like the older megaman games,so fans of the original series will have no trouble learning the games controls, there is one noteworthy change and that is megaman's ability to cling to walls so you can either slide down a wall safely,or jump from one wall to another so you can reach extremely high places you couldn't reach otherwise!
The difficulty has been ramped up from the main series, which makes this game extremely hard even for veteran megaman players, luckily however Megaman X uses the same rock paper scissors approach as the original megaman games,so as long as you beat stages in the right order you shouldn't get too many game over screens.
This game also has hidden upgrades for megaman to find, which will be extremely helpful such as extra health, higher defense, and even an upgrade to megaman's mega buster weapon!
Graphics and Sound
The graphics in Megaman X are terrific as the amount of detail in the backgrounds of each level is awesome, and the character and enemies look excellent!
The Sound effects are actually quite good for an snes game as the sound quality is high so the sounds are clear and sound somewhat "realistic" compared to the sound quality of other snes games at the time!
The music in this game is far better then what was used in the mainstream Megaman games, and quite possibly is one of the best soundtracks ever used in a platforming title!
Bottom line-With gameplay that surpasses the mainstream Megaman titles, breathtaking 2d graphics, and an absolutely awesome soundtrack Megaman X will not disappoint any action/platforming fan and at 800 Nintendo points it's a must buy!
Score ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 10/10
10- Perfect This game is nearly perfect, and has little if any flaws, and is a blast to play!
