My Laptop and Broadband Router Serious Issue Please Help!

My laptop is causing my broadband router to glitch and I keep losing my connection and have to unplug my router from the wall to fix it, however the second I connect with my laptop again I lose my connection. 
It's gotten so bad that now I have to have my phone off the hook to get any connection on my other devices.
When troubleshooting it appears that my router keeps mistaking my laptop with an unidentified network which causes my router to automatically shut-down.
Do you guys know what's going on? Is it a glitch? An electrical issue? Or worse, a virus? Any help would be very much appreciated.

There might be too many devices hooked up to it.

what router do you have?
