This news is really exciting as it seems that Nintendo is really making an effort to improve its online infrastructure. After the disappointing Nintendo Wi-fi Connection and Lackluster Wiiware service there is hope that with the WiiU there will be a better system. Some of this “improvement” can already be seen in the 3DS eshop. “By creating this new position we’re demonstrating our commitment to the expansion of our online business, and Duncan is the perfect person for the job.” (Reggie Fils Aime)

When he was at Disney Mr Orell-Jones worked to expand the gaming Business across multiple platforms (PS3, 360 etc), he was the Senior Vice President of Disney interactive Media Group. He is due to start his new position at Nintendo on July 1st (Canada Day) were he will be handling the North American Digital Strategy.

The Miiverse is big, but I think it'll be a huge failure given the censoring Nintendo plans on implementing.

This is a good move and I don't think there will be many issues with the censoring issues too.
