Since October 18th 1985 the date the NES came out in NA which just happened to be my 7th birthday.
So that would make it 27 years.

I got my first computer in 1985 (a ZX Spectrum); a short time later I started buying computer and gaming magazines and the rest is history. :-)

The first system I ever played on was a very old Apple Learning system computer which was for a old game called Number Munchers. It was given to me as well as donated to me an Apple II computer from a person at my mothers work. It was one of the coolest games i ever played when i was a little kid. Thats as far back as i can remember for when playing games. And then of course you guys know otherwise i played on the NES SNES and so on so forth.

@Tails86: Lol I remember playing Number Munchers back in elementary school. That and Oregon Trail were the only games we were allowed to play in school.

My first was a Sega genesis with sonic and a couple others I forgot, the a GB with DKL, then a PSOne with Spyro, MGS, Crash, WipEout, FFVII, and others I can't remember. But then I got a PS2 with some titles and R&C, MGS2, J&D, a few others to, then I got a GBA and for the first time realized one of my favorite shows (Pokemon) had... GAMES? so I picked up silver version and a few months later Ruby, then my friend showed me his N64 he was giving away with SSB, Mario 64, and Stadium, so I got those, and was interested in a game with the robot dude from SSB (metroid ) and picked up fusion for the GBA, then picked up a GCN with SSBM and at that point I wanted to know more about Nintendo characters, picked up Yoshis island and SMB3 for GBA, and Golden sun, then Colloseum for GCN and Metroid Prime, then I got a DS with SM64DS and emerald, a little after that I got XD, then the day came back in 2006 when I saw the SSBB trailer, then I was all like.... Ok time to get series on Nintendo history, and whoop here I am and haven't looked back. (sorry for long post)

My father got a C64 when I was a baby. And I picked up the joystick when I was able to grab it with my baby hands. Some of my favourite earliest game memories are Super Pipeline (1983) and Gribbly's Day Out (1985) I had on cassette tape.

Naturally grew up with most of the early 80ies classics like Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Galaxian, Frogger, Mario Bros., Boulder Dash, Ghosts'n Goblins, (and a thousand other games) etc.
Then came into contact with Amiga and IBM PC's in the early 90ies, and a few consoles like NES, Game Boy, Master System, and Mega Drive. Wanted a Mega Drive for christmas because Sonic looked fantastic. Got a SNES instead (mothers) with 3 games (Super Mario World, F-Zero, Super Soccer) and a Super Game Boy. I was pretty disappointed until I plugged it in, F-Zero being the first game I tried on my first own Nintendo. It was lightning fast and felt just amazing but it was ultrahard. Then I plugged in Super Mario World... and Sonic was forgotten. Was totally sold on the system and with Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, Secret of Mana, and tons of other great SNES and GB games following shortly after I never looked somewhere else. Have been a 'fan' ever since, got the N64, Gamecube, Wii and Wii U at launch.

If you got a C64 you must have played some of the exclusive platformer games like Giana Sisters, or Meyhem In Monsterland?
Those were good games!

Hi. Yes, I merely wrote about my earliest favourite games and didn't want to go into detail or any further than 1985. I thought it was probably too long of a gaming history to tell.DBZmania wrote:If you got a C64 you must have played some of the exclusive platformer games like Giana Sisters, or Meyhem In Monsterland?
Those were good games!
But of course I had those games as well.
It's interesting you picked those two.
The Great Giana Sisters (1987)
Played it for a very long time, probably a year or more. Was totally addicted to it. It was basically my first Mario-like platformer. Well, at the time only two Mario-like platformers existed: Super Mario Bros. and Giana Sisters. I never owned a NES (I was too young, parents didn't want me to play videogames and bought computers instead) so there was just the Giana Sisters option. It was a fair compromise.
Mayhem in Monsterland (1993)
Shamelessly underplayed because that was just the year I got the SNES and my ten year old trusty C64 went to sale the same year. Even though Mayhem in Monsterland was pretty good and a technical milestone, Super Mario World was revolutionary! It killed Mayhem and every single C64 platformer easily. There was no turning back. From there on I knew gaming was all about Nintendo!

@SKTTR Did you ever get to play Super Mario All-Stars on your SNES?
Are there any differences between that version of the game and the one that was released on the Wii?

Since Pong.
Played a stand-up arcade version (it was a bulky gray metal box with a screen and ball) of Pong at a fair waaaay back in the day before anyone ever heard of a video game. Early seventies.

1. Just to get the obvious changes out of the way first: It was released in a limited big red cardboard box. Inside the box there's the game on disc in a regular plastic Wii case with a new manual, a Mario CD soundtrack, and a thin booklet with the History of Mario.DigiDestined wrote:@SKTTR Did you ever get to play Super Mario All-Stars on your SNES?
Are there any differences between that version of the game and the one that was released on the Wii?
2. Like every other Wii game, All-Stars has a boot-up title screen with a short jingle. This is the only audiovisual addition that was not present in the SNES original. After you click on 'Start' everything will be just like in 1993 when the game was first released.
3. The game will not stretch to widescreen like VC releases do. On a widescreen-tv it will stay 4:3 with black borders left and right.
4. Unlike VC SNES games where you need a Classic Controller, you can play All-Stars with Wiimote sideways as well.
yeah, that's it I guess.

Since I got my Atari 2600 as a kid. My favorite game as a child was Pac Man I always enjoyed trying the new Pac Man remixes in the late 80's and early 90's in the arcades. It's a shame that real arcade parlors are no longer with us. There are just a few small arcade rooms at a few pizza joints, movie theaters, and amusement parks now.
