There are two dimensions present within the universe: Inner space and Outer space. Inner space has multiple earths, watched over by beings known as "The Creators" who are guiding mankind to defend the planets and fight the ones who are destroying mankind. Outer space sends invaders to deal with Inner space, and sends an agent in the form of a human girl to infiltrate Earth-4. Isa Jo, an agent of Earth-5, is sent to find and kill the Outer space infiltrator, only to find that the girl has become infatuated with humans due to amnesia, And because of this, Isa decides to protect her and help her live, something which goes against the creators' wishes. As a result, the creators send out a group known as the Nebulox, led by Isa's former ally Deko, to kill Kachi and Isa for his betrayal. Isa, having denounced the creators for their cruelty, goes on the run with Kachi to escape the Nebulox, board an air ship, and stop them once and for all.

Story
The story takes place years after the original Sin & Punishment for the N64, but at first it is very confusing, because the story that I just wrote before to introduce the review is never told in the game, the game just starts off at a very confusing beginning, like if you just missed it's prequel because the game never explains what just happened before and what are the main reasons for the main protagonist's objectives, you either had to look it up on the game's manual or in the official website to understand what happened before (or in this case, the introduction that I just wrote in this review), but other than that, the story in this game actually expands more of Sin & Punishment's universe, seeing how we can now see a lot of places and environments this time unlike in the original game, but one huge problem I had with this game is the ending, because the ending just... ends, it just cuts away and pretty much left behind more questions than answers,  there is an extended ending, but you need to play the game again but with certain modes in order to reveal it (but I'll get into that later on), and the extended ending actually reveals a plot twist, but just like the regular ending, it just cuts away leaving you with even more questions... so judging from the story overall, it had was alright, but it had a very weak ending.

Gameplay
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor (also known as "Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies" in Europe and "Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Universe" in Japan) is a rail shooter where you can use the Wii remote and Nunchuck, Wii zapper, Classic controller and the Gamecube controller. The game is pretty similar to it's original game, the game progresses through this "Corridor Mode" which forces your character go on a fixed path straight forward through the environment and you can't stop no matter what you do, shooting a lot of enemies and evading a lot of obstacles that are in your way, all while keeping the timer from reaching to zero, scoring a lot of points, and keeping your health meter far from empty, but this time the game added a whole lot of new features, first things first, seeing how you can actually play with the Wii remote and Nunchuck and the Wii zapper, aiming the reticule in this game is way more better and way more quick than the original game, because you use the pointer in order to aim rather than just the sluggish control stick like in the original game, but that's not the best part, the best part is that you can actually customize your controller the way you feel comfortable with ! be it all of the controller options (Wii remote and Nunchuck, Wii zapper, Classic controller and the Gamecube controller) ! you can change the button functions, the speed, and others ! meaning that there isn't any sluggish and annoying controls in this game anymore ! and for that, this game gets a huge plus !

Other new features are the ability to select your main character rather than playing a certain character in a certain chapter like in the original game, and you can also fly freely in any direction, and there are also obstacles that you must evade by flying, another thing is that you also have the ability to use a charge attack in which you must hold a certain button in order to charge and then shoot it to an enemy to deal very heavy damage, but requires a somewhat long period of time in order to recharge afterward, another thing added to the powerups are these little tokens that you can earn once you've deflect certain projectiles (usually missiles) at an on-screen opponent, which increases your score multiplier and a medal that can earn you a lot of points and you must do a certain thing in order to get one.

As I've said before, this game is similar to the original game, you can move around freely on-screen where you can go forward, backward, side-to-side, or up and down and you may run on the ground and jump as well as fly, a rolling dodge move can evade enemy attacks and aiming the gun is done with a reticule, and it is not tied to movement whatsoever and of course, you can also use a sword to slash close enemies, projectiles, etc. which deals heavy damage to enemies at close range. But as always, the sword is assigned to the same button you press to shoot, but it isn't as annoying as the original game, and another thing is that the lock on mode is very different, this time it's the same button you use for the charge attack (if you're using the Wii remote and Nunchuck), you only lock on the enemy by just tapping the button once so that it can lock on to it, it's very comfortable and very quick to use !

When comparing to this game to the original one, this game is definitely better and comfortable when it comes to gameplay, as for the difficulty, it is fairly challenging, but you can actually practice the stage in order to be good at it, so no worries about unfair difficulty... but even though this game sound better than the original, there are still some annoying and nonsensical moments in the game (SPECIALLY in stage 6 !), but as it is, this game is very enjoyable and fun for what it is !

Graphics
The graphics look really good ! there are some stages that really look beautiful and cool at the same time ! and others that are really atmospheric, meaning that they do great job when it comes to the tone of the game, there's also a lot of flashy lightning from the great amount of bullets and the explosions, but it's not too headache-inducing in my opinion, but the character model look ok, they're not bad but they could've been a lot better, but other models like the machines and the monsters look really great.

Music and sound
The soundtrack, I will say this, is a little better than the original game, but just like that one, the game focuses more on the gameplay than the music, but at least it doesn't have that problem where any music is in a part where it doesn't fit the mood like in the original.

The sounds are very cool and neat ! just the satisfaction of hearing the explosions and the sounds of when you collect a medal or a token is just very satisfying ! as for the voice acting... even though the sound more emotional than the original game, sometime in the game they can be quite cheesy and corny that is a little uncomfortable to listen to, and the dialog of this game can be quite cheesy too... the game has a variety of languages too, but they only affect the menus and not the voice acting or anything like that.

Presentation
The game has local multiplayer, but unlike in the original game, the second player can help the first player by just having another reticule that the second player can aim and shoot with, there isn't another character in the game, so the second player can't be injured. The only "online multiplayer" this game has included is online leaderboards, where you can submit your own high score in all or in one level, and each are separated by their difficulties (easy, normal and hard) and by the characters (Isa and Kachi).

The original game was very stylish with it's own environment, atmosphere and tone of the destruction of the world, but in this game the environment, atmosphere and tone are massively expanded now that you can travel to the ruins of what was left of the world, it's very unique and very cool to look at, since you can see the ruins of a city, a fortress in the sky, a dream, etc. and all of them add the depth of the game when it comes to the whole style.

As for the replayability, as I've said, you can keep playing this game in order to get a high score and try to beat the highest score online and to also be good at it, and there are also some modes that you can unlock like an Isa and Kachi mode where you can press the minus button to switch between Isa and Kachi and in order to unlock it is to beat the game twice as both Isa and Kachi once, and you can also unlock different styles like the Isa variant and the Kachi variant by beating the game in Tag-Team mode.

Overall
Now for the big question, is this game better than the original game (Sin & Punishment) ? and the answer is yes... and no, yes because the game is better when talking about the gameplay, the presentation and the graphics, and no because there are still some things in the game that's really annoying like some parts of the story and some annoying things in the game as well, but as it stands, it is a really good game ! so if you like the original game, you like challenging games or you just like the style and concept of this game, then go ahead and get it ! but if you really hated the original game or you didn't cared for it, gives this at least a rent, as for me this game gets...

an 8/10

8- Great This is a great game that might have a few flaws or could have been better, but is still a game we highly recommend!

If you only have these two choices, which one will you choose ? to have a game with no story ? or to have a game with the most ridiculous, boring, cliché-filled and horrible story ever ?
Do games need to be epic ?... or fun ?...

Based on what I heard this was an insanely difficult game. Hence the bad reviews. I havent played it myself so I cant really give an opinion.
