Welcome, I'm pleased to introduce to you a brand new weekly article feature known as "eshop 72". This feature focuses on the latest download releases, both new and classics, appearing on the Nintendo eShop (North America) and shows you how well they’re doing during the first 72 hours on the service (Thursday 9:00am – Sunday 9:00am PDT).
It’s important to keep in touch with Nintendo’s digital products since the service will be growing significantly with the upcoming arrivals of digital versions of retail games. Once that happens retail 3DS games will also be tracked in download activity charts such as “Recent Releases” and “All Software”. As well as physical eShop increase for those who will upgrade their Nintendo 3DS experience when purchasing a Nintendo 3DS XL. While waiting for the Nintendo eShop website, here’s your first weekly dose of eShop data involving titles released on June 28.
For the Nintendo 3DS Downloads there are two, Marvel Pinball 3D (Zen Studios) and Bomb Monkey (Renegade Kid), both from developers who are no strangers to the Nintendo eShop and their previous efforts are still doing very well. While their latest titles are not especially popular in terms of download activity since neither of them are currently featured in the top 20 “Recent Releases” even when filtered for only the 3DS Downloads, they’re competitive on positive feedback from users who purchased them. Marvel Pinball 3D is the winner, rated as a 5 Star title with 40 ratings and currently featured in 16th place in “All User Ratings” at the Nintendo eShop for All Software. Bomb Monkey is rated as a 4 ½ Star title with 41 ratings.
For the DSiware selections for this week, there are two, Escape the Virus: Swarm Survival and Flip the Core. Flip the Core is the only DSiware title receiving votes, a 4 Star title with only 5 ratings.
Last week’s Order Up!! is doing surprisingly well for an expensive casual, non-exclusive, title on the Nintendo eShop. Order Up!! is currently in 1st place in “All User Ratings” for All Software 10 days after launch with over 200 ratings and still clipping the wings from the previous contender: Kid Icarus: Uprising who sits in 2nd place. Note that this isn’t consecutive, the latest retail release LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes briefly appeared at number 1 in “All User Ratings” on the second day. This week is an improvement for Order Up!! finally ranking in the “Recent Releases” for All Software at 18th place. I’m curious to see how long will this game will last on the top with heavy hitters retail games releasing this month such as Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure, Heroes of Ruin, Kingdom Hearts 3D, as well as THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY which will release in stores on Tuesday.
